Ashley Bridges is a Weekend Anchor/Digital Journalist at WJBF News Channel 6.
Ashley is WJBF News Channel 6's Aiken County Bureau chief and reports on all things South Carolina. Originally from upstate South Carolina, Ashley has a homegrown love for the Palmetto State and its people.
Before joining WJBF in August of 2012, Ashley worked as a story editor at ABC News' global headquarters in New York. In addition to generating and developing stories for “Good Morning America” and “20/20”, Ashley spent substantial time in the field, independently- and exclusively-booking, reporting, writing, and producing daily coverage for all platforms. She traveled nearly 100,000 miles to cover a range of stories, from embedding in an 800 person town in rural Wisconsin for weeks to unearth someone's hidden past, to being a part of the media frenzy covering the Casey Anthony trial. During her three years at the network, she contributed to nearly all of ABC's special events coverage including the Chilean mine collapse, the Japan earthquake, and the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting. Ashley is most proud of a months-long investigation about “The Military Mistress”, which exposed a conwoman who would marry then bankrupt deploying servicemen.
While working in New York, Ashley also earned a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Government from Harvard College.
Although Ashley's own college mascot was The Crimson, she still bleeds orange for Clemson Tiger football. She loves literature, Boston sports, and bikram yoga. Ashley is also an active alumnae advisor for Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is thrilled to be getting back to her roots, from baking peach pies to deer hunting. Ashley is eager to get to know WJBF News Channel 6's viewers across the CSRA, especially around Aiken. If you see Ashley out and about, please say “hey”; and, she's always checking her email and social media accounts, looking for your story ideas.
