Tom Wylie is WJBF News Channel 6's weekend Sports Anchor at 6pm and 11pm, as well as WJBF News Channel 6 on the CW at 10pm.
Tom joined the WJBF team in August 2012, as a Sports anchor and reporter.
Tom comes to the CSRA from the arctic tundra of Montana – where, in two years, he worked his way from unpaid intern to statewide sports director for ABC affiliates across the region.
Growing up in Montana, Tom played all kinds of sports. In high school he played end, guard and tackle for the Bozeman Hawks football team. He sat at the end of the bench, guarded the water cooler, and tackled anyone who came near.
Despite his physical limitations, Tom's passion for sports persisted. In college Tom nurtured that passion at the University of Idaho where he hosted a weekly radio show, ran camera for Idaho Vandal football games and operated the board during radio broadcasts for Washington State sporting events. In 2009, Tom graduated with a degree in Journalism and Mass Media.
Tom misses the mountains of Big Sky country, but is excited for new adventures in the CSRA. Before making the trek south, Tom had never been to an SEC football game and was blown away by the experience and atmosphere.
So please, if you see Tom out and about – feel free to say hello. He'll be the one holding the camera with a perma-smile on his face. Tom loves to tell stories, so drop him a line with any ideas. He likes to focus on the human side of athletics – going beyond big performances and X's and O's.
