Movement On South Augusta Pigment Plant

There's a sign, but no sign of action at a South Augusta factory site.

It was December of 2011 when Rockwood pigments said it would be build a 110 million dollar plant off Doug Barnard Parkway.

The plant was scheduled to open this year, but no work has started.

But plant officials and engineers met today with city planners to go over final designs.

Pending city approval, work should finally get started by late summer.

“Never any worry about the plant actually coming there were some concerns about the complexity of the transactions is so far as being able to build I think were some of the issues were faced they haven't done one of these in a long time engineers are here they got drawings on the table looks like we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Construction is expected to take about a year and a half so the plant is not expected to open until 2015. It's expected to create up to 85 new jobs.
