Missy Walker teaches Preschoolers Aquiring Language Skills. It's also called P.A.L.S.
“P.A.L.S. is a program that works with at-risk children who are having difficulty with their expressive and receptive language skills,” she says. “We target children that are 3,4, and 5 years old. We just work on helping them to be able to develop the skills that they need in order to perform adequately in school.”
Adequately? Try amazing. Something families deeply appreciate.
She says, “Usually by the end of the program they are able to talk so much that their parents are like 'Oh my gosh Miss Walker, what did you do?!', so I really feel like it's a very important program. It's a great head start to getting them ready for life and making sure that they have all the academic skills they need to succeed.”
Missy Walker really picks up where parents leave off. She holds these hands and guides these lives as if they were her own children. Takes a lot of love, and a lot of patience and she has tons of both.
“You just have to love what you do. I come to work everyday and I love what I do. I can't see myself doing anything else. So because I have that love and that passion and that drive for what I do, the patience just comes with it,” she says.
“When I first started out, I always knew that I wanted to work with children. So this has been the perfect opportunity to do everything that I loved to do and to actually touch lives. I feel like that's what's most important is that we have a good impact on our children.”
