Last week, we told you about a developer's plan to build an apartment complex near the Costco off River Watch Parkway.
Monday, the Augusta Planning Commission approved the developer's request for a zoning change.
In two weeks, Augusta Commissioners will have to decide if the 26 acres of land should be changed from industrial zoning to residential. If approved, the developers say that construction could begin as early as January 2014.
“The community is going to be 260 apartment units. That being divisible by 50% 2 bedrooms, 40% 1 bedrooms, and 10% 3 bedrooms…all of which will lease for the $850 and above range,” says Augusta project manager Jeff Carter.
The development group says that they plan to move residents into the apartments in about 18 months.
