Crews are trying to restore power to Fort Gordon after an outage.

According to Fort Gordon officials, power went out at about 10:30 a.m. Friday morning. They say it is affecting nearly 80% of the installment.

Georgia Power crews are not sure what caused the outage, but they think a power surge on Washington Road may be the cause.

All non-essential personnel were released from work at 1:00 p.m. According to the Fort Gordon Facebook page, child development centers are notifying parents to pick up their children.
