Finding a place for artists to call home.
Could the old train depot downtown be a place for Augusta's artists to live and work? Wednesday night, the non-profit group “Art-space” will reveal the results of its study of Augusta's art community.
Those results could help determine whether there are enough artists to create an artist-based development in the Garden City.
Mayor Deke Copenhaver says he's all for it.
“I think just by having an inventory of local artists, that's a good thing to begin with for our local arts community, but I think it also judges the capacity. I think we will see live work space, affordable live/work space developed for artists in Augusta in the future and that's a great thing.”
The Art-space meeting is Wednesday, April 24th at The old Richmond Academy building on Telfair street. It begins at 6:30pm.
