“Well, it's crazy. It's absolutely crazy,” says witness Brian Nixon.
Nixon and his wife were were among several witnesses who watched in horror as Elton Kim clung onto a speeding car.
“You could see the fear in the man's face at that point and we realized this wasn't just some kids playing around. This was something serious,” said Nixon by phone on Monday.
Nixon said he followed the woman to a stoplight, then tried to box her in…but she was able to get away after Kim hopped off the hood.
“She seemed rather lethargic. She just seemed out of it, like this situation was just not clicking with her that this was happening. She just didn't seem right at all,” Nixon said.
Kim says he was confronting the woman after she backed into his wife's truck. He says she accelerated at him and his instinct was to jump. “I'm lucky. I'm very lucky,” he said.
Witness Jim Meyer said, by phone, he saw the altercation, then started recording it on his cell. “She was just staring straight ahead. She didn't move her arms. She didn't…she didn't do anything. She was stone-faced and no emotion whatsoever,” he said.
Kim told authorities the driver tried to get him off the hood by slamming the accelerator and the brakes. He said he was able to hold on for so long because his fingers were caught in the hood.
Authorities are still searching for the driver.
