U.S. Representative John Barrow (D-GA) said Wednesday that he will not run for U.S. Senate.
In a statement released Tuesday morning, Barrow, who represents Georgia's 12th District, said he has received a lot of support for a possible Senate run, but that his heart lies in Georgia's 12th District.
Current U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, a Republican, announced earlier this year he would not seek reelection in 2014.
“I enjoy my work on behalf of the folks in the 12th District, and I look forward to continuing to serve them in the House of Representatives,” said Barrow.
Barrow is up for re-election to Congress in 2014.
