DDA Finalizes Getting Outside Help To Bring in Retail

Meanwhile the Downtown Development Authority is finalizing its expert help to bring more business downtown.

The group is finalizing its $60 thousand dollar contract with an Alabama Consulting firm to recruit retail businesses to the Broad Street area. But some say, why spend money for expert help when it's the job of DDA director to bring economic development downtown?

“This company has a regional national outlook as talented as Margaret is she's got a lot on her plate doesn't have the contracts that a company of this scope would have out and about in the retail world,” says DDA Chairman Cameron Nixon.

DDA officials are expecting the Augusta commission to also use the services of the consulting firm and share costs; they don't see that as a potential conflict.
