A metro Atlanta man has pleaded guilty in the death of his estranged wife and has been sentenced to life in prison.
John S. Kristofak pleaded guilty to murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in Cobb County Superior Court Tuesday.
Kristofak was accused of killing his ex-wife, Donna, Dec. 22, 2012 and was arrested at a Union City motel five days later. The Marietta Daily Journal reports aside from the murder and weapons charge, Kristofak was sentenced to 10 years on a probation violation stemming from an aggravated stalking charge from October 2012.
Investigators have said Kristofak shot his ex-wife in her garage and the couple's 17-year-old son heard his mother scream before seeing Kristofak flee the scene.

The children were taken to the Newton County Medical Center and the extent of their injuries was not immediately clear. Key-Hoosen says the fox retreated to a wooded area and a trap has been set.
