The Corvey Irvin Youth Football Camp is coming to Richmond County's Lucy C. Laney High School on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
Corvey Irvin plays for Chicago Bears. The FREE camp is presented in collaboration with Athletes for Charity. It will feature an educational and football clinic from 9am – 2pm for 250 underprivileged youth between the ages of 10 and 17 years.
“I have always wanted to do something to give back to my community and decided to host a football camp this year as a start,” says Irvin. “I plan to do much more by teaming up with other members of my community to benefit kids in the area.”

Campers will receive free lunch, t-shirts, gift bags and instruction by Corvey Irvin and a few of his colleagues in the NFL

The camp is free of charge and open to all area youth, boys and girls. Advanced registration will be required  to participate.

A native of Augusta, Irvin attended Laney High School where he played both football and basketball.   

Upon graduation, Irvin attended junior college and played football at Georgia Military College where he received a General Studies degree. He also helped lead the GMC team to the Golden Isles Bowl in 2006.  He continued his eduation at the University of Georgia where he earned a degree in Child & Family Development.  As a member of the Georgia Bulldogs he was named the team's defensive captain in 2008 and was invited to play in the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl.

Irvin was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft.  He has played for the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars, and has been a defensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since 2012.  He recently signed with the Chicago Bears.
