A local woman just celebrated her 107th birthday. Mary Edith Reese grew up in Leah, Georgia, which is near Appling.
Reese taught 40 years in the Columbia County School System and is a survivor of breast cancer.
Known as a jokester, Edith shared stories from her childhood with us Wednesday, including her time as a track star in high school.
“I got tired of being a fast runner, so I got what you call a slow runner. I'd run down a little bit, so I could catch up with somebody and pass them,” she told us.
Reese says she isn't on any medication and the only thing she does everyday is drink a 2 liter Coca-Cola and take a multi-vitamin.
