Augusta Commissioners are willing to put up the money to help GRU move.
As we first reported, the city is proposing using Sibley Mill and King Mill as dorms and classrooms for a new university.
A Commission committee has approved spending $300,000 on a study to determine the way to make that happen. According to the city administration, $100,000 will come from the mayor's budget, and $200,000 out of reserves.
As part of the proposal, the city will donate land near the mills for a solar power farm to provide clean energy to the project.
The full Commission must still approve the plan.
