The youngest victim of a triple murder in Augusta, will be honored by his classmates Wednesday night. Russell Jones, was part of Hephzibah High School's class of 2011. Russell was an athlete who was loved by many at Hephzibah High. His death has sparked a “Stop The Violence Movement.” It's an effort to help bring an end to the deadly violence that we've seen lately with teens and young adults across the CSRA.
“I want people to understand that violence is not the answer. It's just not the answer. I've lost a lot of friends to just violence, period, senseless violence. So I just really want people to understand, it's not the answer,” said Dorian Kendall, Russell's former classmate.
“If everyone comes out and shows their support – then maybe we can save someone else's life,” said Quontavious Darlington, Russell's former classmate.
The community is invited to Wednesday night's event. It will begin at 8pm and will be held at the Jessye Norman Ampitheater on 9th Street. You're encouraged to bring a candle and balloon. The balloons will be released at the end of the event.
