Tornado Watch Issued For Several CSRA Counties

The National Weather Service in Columbia, South Carolina has issued a Tornado Watch, which is in effect for several Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) counties.

The Tornado Watch is in effect until 10:00 p.m. Monday night.

Officials tell WJBF News Channel 6, this hazardous weather outlook is for east central Georgia and central South Carolina. They say strong to possibly severe thunderstorms may develop Monday afternoon and extend into the evening hours. Strong gusty winds may accompany thunderstorms and heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding.

The Georgia counties affected by the Tornado Watch are:

  • Burke County
  • Columbia County
  • Lincoln County
  • McDuffie County
  • Richmond County

The South Carolina counties affected by the Tornado Watch are:

  • Aiken County
  • Bamberg County
  • Barnwell County
  • Edgefield County
  • McCormick County
  • Saluda County
