Man In Critical Condition After Being Allegedly Shot By His Fiancee

A Hephzibah man is in critical condition at Georgia Regents Medical Center after Richmond County Sheriff's Office investigators say he was shot by his fiancee.

Wednesday afternoon, just after 3:00 p.m., deputies received a call to the 4400 block of Forest Road, in Hephzibah, in reference to shots fired and 1 person being down.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found that 51-year-old Steven Ouzts, of the same address, had received one gunshot to his upper torso. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Ouzts was shot by 29-year-old Amanda Neeley, of the 1300 block of Hephzibah-McBean Road, who is reportedly his fiancee.

Neeley is currently being held at Richmond County Jail, charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime under the Family Violence Act.

Ouzts was airlifted from the scene to the Georgia Regents Medical Center Emergency Room for medical attention and is in critical condition.
