On their tail to sniff out problems with Augusta's new garbage program…11 days after the new trash service started, the city is still being slammed with complaints about missed pickups.
One Augusta Commissioner even followed garbage trucks so he could talk to the workers to find out what's going wrong.
“I wanted a hands-on experience from the people doing the work so we can figure out why were having these problems. Certainly, we expect some problems with a transition as large as this, but we've been at this for a couple of weeks. We should have been able to move past some of these issues,” says Commissioner Donnie Smith, who says he's still getting numerous calls from people in his district.
Smith says the drivers told him one problem is there are not enough trucks in certain areas of the city. He says he'll plans to discuss what he heard with the landfill director.
