Divers and Rescue Personnel from Newberry and Union County Rescue Squads recovered a drowning victim today in the waters of Lake Murray at the public boat landing on Riverbend Point in Saluda, SC.
Saluda County Sheriffs Office, requested the assistance of local dive teams at approximately 4:45 this afternoon. Within minutes, divers from Newberry County Rescue and Union County Rescue responded to assist The Saluda County Sheriff's Office.
Newberry County Dive team leader, Glenn Hamm, noted “Saluda County Deputies and South Carolina DNR Officers were first on the scene and immediately performed the detailed witness interviews that led to the quick recovery of the drowning victim by Newberry County Rescue Divers. The Rescue Divers were under water for less than 15 minutes.”
