It's a legal challenge on the Augusta commission.
Commissioners to discuss the future of law department attorney Andrew Mackenzie.
A vote of no confidence against Mackenzie was put off tonight because as a personnel issue it will need to be discussed in legal session.
But Commissioner Bill Lockett feels there are reasons to fire the attorney.
“You've got bias, you got some decisions that are being made that a non attorney can tell are inappropriate you have favoritism shown to certain commissioners and so forth,” says Commissioner Bill Lockett who placed the no confidence vote on the agenda
I haven't received any reasons that he claims are necessary so I have no further information to share I haven't seen those reasons,” said Mackenzie.
Mackenzie's job will be discussed at the next commission legal session, and since Mackenzie cannot represent commissioners in this case the city will need to hire an outside attorney.
No word on that will cost the city.
