Jefferson County Sheriff, Gary Hutchins, tells us “A family member has been taken and we're going to do all we can to apprehend these suspects and bring them to justice.”
Justice is what Sheriff Hutchins is promising after two men were shot in the head in what investigators say was a drive-by shooting outside this club in Louisville Sunday morning. 23 year old Kenneth Quarterman Jr later died from his injuries.
Hayward Altman, District Attorney for the Middle Judicial Circuit, says “at that point and time, the local sheriff's department, police department and GBI were called into the investigation. Special Agent Pat Morgan and Robert Chalker, as well as several other law enforcement agencies became involved in a very intense investigation.”
One that quickly produced suspects.
Now, Jefferson County investigators have issued 11 arrest warrants in connection with the murder at Club Apollo. They say they do believe the incident was gang related.
“Yes, murder warrants have been issued for these individuals. There will be additional gun charges as well as additional gang related charges forthcoming for these individuals,” Altman explains.
Six of the suspects have been arrested. They are Dontavius Meadows, Barrington Allen, Ivey Elam, Jason Williams, Jayrin Williams and Rajonte McGruder.
Jefferson County Investigators still need your help catching the remaining five. Octavius
Hickson, Damian Simpkins, Dalonte Tarver, Lafayell Williams and Shinique Flournoy. The captured suspects are being charged with murder, but Altman says other charges could be pending.
Special Agent Pat Morgan with the GBI pleads, “anybody out there that may've been at Club Apollo please call us so we can speak with you.”
