The summer travel season is in full swing. Before you take your vacation, you are urged to take time to donate blood. Officials with Shepeard Community Blood Centers say there is a shortage of blood across the CSRA.
Shepeard supplies blood to 21 area hospitals but due to the changing summer schedules, supplies are running low.
There will be two blood drives in Columbia County, Georgia on Thursday, June 27. Each is being sponsored by the Columbia County Emergency Management Agency.
One will be located at the Evans Government Complex in the building “A” Auditorium from 10 am to 7 pm. A second blood drive will be held on the bloodmobile at the Roads and Bridges Building in Appling, Georgia from 10 am to 4 pm.
Free food will be provided by Chick-fil-a and Firehouse Subs. Donors will also get free T-shirts and can enter to win a Kindle Fire. All first time donors will receive a free coffee mug.
