Augusta spent more money than it took in last year and the city savings account will take a hit.
The annual audit is finished, and it shows the city did not end last year with a surplus.
In 2011, the city finished the year $1.6 million on the plus side, but not last year. This is not a complete surprise, as Augusta Commissioners approved using $3 million out of reserves in 2012 to balance the budget.
Commissioners are scheduled to get a report on the audit findings and the deficit at Tuesday's meeting.
