Obamacare – the Affordable Care Act.
As the debate continues, viewers still have questions….WJBF's Kimberly Scott has more.
Open enrollment for the Affordable Healthcare Act is underway Pauline sent us these questions:
Are we going to be charged by our income and what do people do that have no income? How do we choose a company and who are these companies?
Answer from Robert Harn, Benefit Coordinators, Inc, “No you will not be charged by your income, rates are based on zip code, age, family size, and tobacco use. The subsidies you may receive are based on income. Again I will use a licensed, certified broker to take you through this process to choose a company. The companies available to you in the CSRA part of Georgia are, Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and United Healthcare. Aetna and Coventry are not participating at this time.”
Our next question comes from Mary; My husband is a 63-year-old Vietnam veteran. Since all of his doctors are at the local VA hospital and he receives care for free, will he be required to have insurance through the CareAct?
Robert Harn of Benefit Coordinators, Inc. “First of all we want to thank your husband for his service to our country, since he's already registered with the VA, he can continue to use the VA facilities. He is considered to have coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
