On the last day of Black History Month, we want to highlight the first African American to hold the office of president of the United States – President Barack Obama.
President Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1961, and he is the first president to have been born in Hawaii. President Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School.
President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 a few months after his first presidential inauguration. President Obama is mostly known for his fight for healthcare, ending the U.S. Involvement in the Iraq War, ordering the military operation that killed terrorist Osama bin Laden, and calling for full equality for LGBT Americans.
President Obama married First Lady Michelle in 1992, and they have 2 daughters together.
