Weather Doesn’t Damper Past Champions Returns To The Masters

Masters Week 2014 starts with a splash.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms sent fans home early from Augusta National Golf Club on the first day of practice rounds, but even this kind of weather doesn’t put a damper on what it means to the golfers to return to Augusta and the Masters.

“I think it’s a very special week. I love coming here…not going to play much more, if any. It’s still a wonderful week, got a lot of friends here, lot of members who are good buddies of mine. [I] only see them once a year, maybe the end of the year. I love the week, absolutely love it,” says 1982 Champion Craig Stadler, hinting at his Masters retirement.

Stadler is joined by his son, Kevin, in this year’s tournament.

Also glad to be back is 1987 Champion Larry Mize. “It never gets old, it’s always exciting to come back here every year. As always, it’s great to be here this year,” said Mize.

Nineteen past Masters Champions will be playing in this year’s tournament.
