Augusta Firefighters Hold Thanksgiving At Station

SPLOST Hearings Scheduled

Being at work doesn’t mean missing out on Thanksgiving for some Augusta firefighters.

The crew at Station Number 6 on Richmond Hill Road was pitching in to cook a traditional holiday feast while on the job.

Even on Thanksgiving firefighters work a 24 hour shift.

But to help make it a little more special the firefighter invited family members to come join them for dinner.

“Later tonight our families will come and be able to spend time with us if we’re not busy on calls which helps as far as cooking goes if there here and we get a call they can continue cooking they’re coming around six so we’ll get to see our families on thanksgiving which is the biggest thing you miss,” said Lieutenant Laddie Williams.

Williams says through the years Thanksgiving is the busiest of all the holidays for fire calls.
