Ordinance Changes For Spirits Comes To Late This Turkey Day

SPLOST Hearings Scheduled

A thanksgiving toast will soon be easier in Augusta, but not anytime soon.
In September commissioners approved changes to the Alcohol ordinance to allow liquor stores to be open on Thanksgiving and all other holidays except Christmas.

License officials say the change came after requests from store owners.

But don’t run out right now if you’re looking for some of the hard stuff.

Though city leaders passed the rule change two months ago it does not take effect until Monday.
