Augusta commissioners are not getting off to a good start in the new year.
As we first reported yesterday Grady Smith was elected as the Mayor Pro-Tem on a seven to three vote.
But when the mayor requested commissioners make the appointment unanimous., commissioners Bill Fennoy and Bill Lockett still voted no.
Commissioner Lockett saying he didn’t think Smith had the time to be Mayor Pro-Tem.
“I don’t do that If I don’t have the time I’m the one who ought to know that with Mister Lockett and all his government experience about time and efficiency and all that I know he was top dog in his organization you know he has to know what he’s talking about,” said Smith.
Smith -says- the vote will not have any lingering effect on his being pro-tem and says he’s going to focus on improving Richmond County
