The new Ronald McDonald House, the home-away-from-home for the families of sick children, will open Thursday near the Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
The ribbon cutting will take place at 4 p.m.
The 3 story, 28-thousand square foot house has 23 bedrooms. It has been in the work for decades.
“It’s been a labor of love,”
said Betts Murdison, President and CEO of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Augusta.
“You’re seeing the fruition of hundreds of people’s efforts.”
The $5.8 million project will make it easier for the organization to help families of children receiving care at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
“It’s so important for the medical community,” said Murdison.
“We support their work. They’re not the Children’s Hospital of Augusta — they’re the Children’s Hospital of Georgia. So the families that come from outside of Georgia now have a beautiful, safe place to stay – steps away from their kids.”
