Raises are raising interest in the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Richard Roundtree told Commissioners that the 1-point-6 million dollars in pay raises for deputies is paying off.
He says applications are pouring in–more than 400 every two weeks.
“Not all of those are viable candidates but with 400 applications to look through every two weeks you are going to find the best of the best that’s what we are looking for one of our problems before is we had to take people with minimum qualifications now we can actually choose college educated individuals of someone who has a long work history, says Roundtree.
The sheriff says a A new professional recruiting video will be released for the first time tomorrow on the departments face book page he expects that to spur interest in the job.
He says the money to pay for the video came from forfeiture cases not from city tax dollars.
