The victim in an early morning car accident at the intersection of Harlem Appling Highway and Columbia Road has been identified as Sholan Kessing, 68, of Grovetown.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Monday. Kessing’s car veered off the road and into a pond near the traffic light.
Rescue teams pulled the vehicle from the water just after 5 a.m.
There is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol, according to the Harriet Garrison, Deputy Coroner in Columbia County. The crash appears to be an accident.
Kessing is survived by two daughters.
