Scones are a coffee shop favorite and most people have no idea how easy they are to prepare at home. The ingredients are probably in your fridge and pantry and the dough comes together in mere minutes in my food processor. This week I’m making some Petite Vanilla-Almond Scones that are perfect with a cup of coffee or tea. I’ve begun the recipe by combining the dry ingredients in the food processor—some flour, baking powder and a little salt.
Now I’ll pulse in some cubes of cold butter until they’re about the size of petite peas. Next, I’ll add the wet ingredients…some buttermilk, an egg, vanilla extract and almond extra. Pulse these together until the dough forms.
I patted the dough out on a floured cutting board and cut it into 1-inch squares before baking. Now I’ll mix up a quick glaze for these cute little scones.
I’ll combine confectioners’ sugar with a little milk, vanilla extract and almond extract. Now just dip the top of the scones into the glaze and place them on a cooling rack.
