The Aiken County Sheriff, Sheriff Michael Hunt believes the shooting Tuesday night was not a random shooting.
16 year old Gail Mcfadgen was shot in the stomach and killed in the drive by shooting. Gail was known to her family and friends as Gaily Gail.
“She was a people’s person a lovable person, Gaily was a very lovable person she loved her family she was an outgoing person just sweet and kind i mean just innocent, just innocent and i mean it’s just so sad,” said cousin Tameka Harris.
Gail’s cousin Tameka Harris says, Gail would sit on this same brick wall everyday with family and friends, now a makeshift memorial takes her place.
“She was just telling my mom that she couldn’t breathe and for them to hurry she needed help, um she wanted them to hurry up and get her, but I guess it was too late,” Harris said.
Harris says she doesn’t know of anyone who would want to hurt her cousin, but Sheriff Michael Hunt says the shooter may have targeted this group.
“There are some leads and we have reason to believe that this is not a random shooting and we can not comment any further on that because it might jeopardize our investigation,” Sheriff Hunt explained.
The Sheriff says he believes they have a good chance at finding out who is responsible for killing Gail McFadgen.
“We do want to let the family know that they have our sympathy and we are working on this case as hard and as fast as we can we’ve pulled extra man power to put on this case,” the Sheriff concluded.
