It was a red hot Friday across Georgia and South Carolina. High temperatures ranged from 94 to 98°.  Heat indices peaked at 111°. The official high at Augusta’s Bush Field was 96.

A few scattered showers and thunderstorms have developed during the late afternoon early evening hours. Most activity will diminish after sunset tonight.

For the overnight, skies will be mostly clear with wake up temperatures Saturday morning in the lower and middle 70s.

Saturday and Sunday will be hot and uncomfortable with high temperatures reaching the upper 90s. Heat indices will range from 105 to 110°. A few scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop during the late afternoon and early evening hours.  One or two of the storms could be on the strong side, producing gusty winds and heavy rain. A better chance of showers and thunderstorms are expected each afternoon during the upcoming work week and will drop high temperatures to the middle 90s for Monday through Friday.
