UPDATE: Smoke Prompts Evacuation of Local Plant

Employees at the John Deere Plant in Columbia County, Georgia are back on the job after a brief evacuation Thursday morning.

They were sent outside the plant earlier today when smoke was seen coming from heating and air vents.

Columbia County firefighters are at the John Deere Plant  on Horizons South Parkway in Columbia County.

The were called to the scene about 8:30 Thursday morning  after smoke was seen coming from the heating and air vents.

As a precaution, the plant was evacuated.

According to a spokesperson for the Martinez Fire Department, there is no sign of any flames.
