According to Columbia County Deputy Coroner Harriet Garrison, the body found in J. Strom Thurmond Lake Tuesday afternoon has been identified.
Garrison tells WJBF News Channel 6, the body is that of 44-year-old Danny Byers, of Warrenville, South Carolina.
Garrison says, Byers and three friends were bowfishing Saturday night on Thurmond Lake when their boat capsized. The friends swam to shore, but Byers did not make to the shore.
The cause of his death is being listed as Accidental Drowning. Byers’ body is being sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokesperson tells WJBF News Channel 6 that a body was recovered form J. Strom Thurmond Lake Tuesday afternoon.
According to Captain Mark Padgett says a boat was found at 8:08 p.m. Monday night. After that discovery, DNR officials were able to narrow the search area down for a missing boater, 44-year-old Danny Byers, who went missing after a boating accident Saturday night around 11:00 p.m.
A body was found at 11:36 a.m. Tuesday morning, and it was recovered at 1:00 p.m.
At this time, the identity of the body has not been released.
