Aiken city leaders passed the second reading of the new hospitality tax.

The decision was made Monday night by the Aiken City Council.

This means that the tax will go into effect on June 1st.

The tax will add one or two percent to the sale of prepared meals.

Money from the tax would be set aside for a new parking garage and help reduce business license taxes.
