A 75 million dollar investment of renewable and affordable power is coming to Fort Gordon.
Georgia Power Company will install 140 thousand solar panels across 200 acres of land on the base. The investment will help the local economy and create a more secure base. The solar panels are expected to produce renewable power to help the operations on the post by the end of 2016.
Construction is set to begin on a new project at Fort Gordon.
Fort Gordon, The US Army Office of Energy, and Georgia Power will host a ground breaking ceremony at 1 p.m.on Thursday May 14th near the Gordon Lakes Golf Course.
The 200 acre solar project will provide alternate energy through Georgia Power for the Military Post.
The public is invited to attend.
