UPDATED ON 6: Victim In Deadly Crash Involving Dump Truck Identified (Image 1)

We now know the name of the person who was killed in a crash that happened Thursday morning in Appling, Georgia involving a car and a dump truck.

According to the Columbia County Coroner’s Office, the driver of the Toyota Camry that was involved in the crash has been identified as 65-year-old Garud Acharya, from Greenville, South Carolina.

We are told Acharya worked for ADT Alarm Company in a job that caused him to travel a lot.

We are being told the victim in this crash is a male from Greenville, South Carolina.

His identity will not be released until next of kin is notified.

The accident happened at 10:31 a.m.

We have now learned that the Columbia County Coroner is on the scene.

There is one fatality in this accident, which occurred in Appling, Georgia on Ray Owens Road, near Bennet Road, just in front of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

The driver of the vehicle involved pulled out and at this time is at fault in the accident. The dump truck hit the vehicle.

The drive of the other vehicle was killed when the dump truck hit it. No other information is available, at this time, until next of kin is notified.

WJBF News Channel 6 has learned there has been a crash in Columbia County involving a dump truck and another vehicle.

Columbia County Dispatch tells us, the accident involved 2 vehicles and happened on Ray Owens Road, in Appling, near Bennet Road.

Roadways near the crash scene are blocked at this time.

It is unclear if anyone was injured, at this time.
