The Red Cross is on hand helping the evacuees with whatever they can.

They’re passing out water and snacks to those that need it.

Augusta Red Cross volunteers responded to an early morning blaze at the Marshall Square Retirement Community (850 Ronald Reagan Drive Evans, GA 30809) where more than 80 residents, mostly seniors, were displaced. While most of the residents found refuge with family and friends, the Augusta Chapter of the American Red Cross is poised to provide replacement medications, direct financial assistance and to meet other emergency-caused needs of the affected residents.

Those needing additional emergency assistance are urged to contact the Augusta Chapter of the American Red Cross at (706) 724-8481.
