One person has been confirmed dead in the fire. According to the Columbia County Coroner, Vernon Collins, her name is Dorothy Carpenter, 91. She lived on the 3rd floor and she was found in her apartment. Her body will be sent to the crime lab either tomorrow or the next day.
The other of the two missing persons was found. She was on the 3rd floor in her room as well. She has spoken to officials and is now receiving treatment.

One firefighter sent home due to heat exhaustion. Fire is now controlled and firefighters are trying to keep temperature of building down. Two people still unaccounted for.

County officials will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. this morning in the Government Center Auditorium, located at 630 Ronald Reagan Drive, to provide an update on the Marshall Square fire and answer questions. We will stream live on our website at www.wjbf.com.

According to Dee Griffin with the Augusta Fire Department, the Augusta Fire Department has sent Engine #3 and Engine #19 to Columbia County as back up at their headquarters and station #3.
Augusta Fire Department firefighters are covering the stations and areas in the event of emergency calls while Columbia County firefighters work to extinguish the flames at the retirement community.
The AFD does not have a designated time of departure and will remain in Columbia County as long as there is a need for assistance.

Officials tell WJBF News Channel 6 that one of the two people sent to the hospital is not a resident of Marshall Square Retirement Resort Community.

Officials on the scene tell WJBF News Channel 6 that two people are currently unaccounted for. Two other people have been sent to the hospital.
Red Cross is now taking calls (706-724-8481) for all seniors who lost medication in fire.
Food and water are being given to the residents of the building who were evacuated to the Evans Government Complex Building.

Fire crews are on the scene of a fire at a retirement community in Evans.
The fire broke out about 3:30 a.m. at the Marshall Square Retirement Resort. That resort is located at 850 Ronald Reagan Drive.
Multiple units have responded to the scene.
Roads around the area are building blocked off.
Officials are getting ready to load buses with residents that have been evacuated and will move them to the Government Complex. We have not been told which building yet.
The fire chief on scene tells News Channel 6 that they are coordinating with EMA right now.
