Laney, Clemson Alum Rod Hall Plays in Augusta Charity Basketball Game

Augusta, GA (WJBF) — Three years ago, T.W. Josey graduate P.J. Meyers created iPilot, an organization aimed at guiding Augusta’s youth in a positive direction. Saturday night, iPilot hosted the AND1 basketball tour in ARC’s gymnasium.

Lucy C. Laney alum and former Clemson point guard Rod Hall also participated in the event. The organization reached out to Hall and he was happy to help out Meyers, a friend of Hall’s since he was nine years old.

“It’s a good organization,” Hall said. “You don’t have too many organizations down here like that. P.J. is one of my friends, so it’s a good thing for the community.”
Meyers tries to create events to engage Augusta area kids and keep them out of trouble.
“We are really just trying to bring our community back cause there’s a lot of violence going on,” Meyers said. “That’s basically what this AND1 tour is all about. Stopping the violence and stuff like that. Putting the guns down.”

Meyers said he has been working with other Augusta athletes, like T.W. Josey alum and former NFL player Deon Grant, on future events to give back to the community.
