South Carolina state Senators who expected to work on the Palmetto State’s budget on Thursday, instead grappled with the loss of one of South Carolina’s most beloved State Senators.
Members filed solemnly into the Senate chamber after learning of the violent death of Senator Clementa Pinckney.Pickney was one of the nine victims of the shooting in a Charleston church Wednesday night.
Instead of debating state issues, video played of Senator Pinckney’s most recent speech on the floor. He was in favor of a bill requiring police in South Carolina wearing body cameras.
After the video played, fellow Senators spoke of the impact he had on their lives.
