Georgia Regents University and the University System of Georgia will cast a nationwide net in search for a new Director of Public Safety.

The move comes after current Chief, William McBride, announced his retirement effective June 30th, 2015.  Until a new chief is named, the department’s leadership will be a combined effort between Mayor Gene Maxwell and Major Earnest Black.

According to a GRU spokesperson, a deadline has not been set to fill the position in order to conduct a thorough search for top candidates.  The candidate to fill the position will need to be qualified to lead the diverse campus community as well as the academic medical center.
