Report: Cell Phone Use Leads To “Digital Amnesia”

A new study claims that cell phones are destroying our brains.

According to a New York Daily News story, a recent study of 1,000 Americans showed that people cannot remember basic phone numbers anymore because they are trusing their cell phones for that information.

The study found 50 percent of respondents admitted they go to the internet before even trying to recall a fact. Additionally, 65 percent of participants could remember phone numbers they had between ages 10 and 15, which suggests our memeories were better prior to cell phones.

WJBF recently reported on this phenomenon in a two-part series entitled “Mobile Dementia”.  Click here to read that story, or here to read the entire New York Daily News report.
