Ted Cruz says the Confederate Flag Debate “Should be left up to each Individual State”

On Monday South Carolina law makers will begin the debate on the whether the confederate flag should be taken off Statehouse grounds.

Texas Senator and Republican Presidential hopeful, Ted Cruz visited Augusta over the weekend.

News Channel 6 asked the Senator his thoughts on the controversial flag.

“That’s a question for each individual state,” the Senator responded.

He says, it’s not the place for an outside politician to come into a state and voice their opinion about the confederate flag.

“I trust the men and women of South Carolina,Ii trust the men and women of Georgia, and I understand this is a debate that evokes strong emotions,” Cruz explained.

He says he can understand the strong emotions coming from each side of the debate. He thinks each state will make the right decision for their people.
