Augusta, GA – The CSRA is getting ready to experience its second heat wave of the summer.
Fortunately, there are plenty of places to go to beat the heat, like the Wilson Family YMCA in West Augusta, for example.
“Behind me you can see we’ve got our indoor pool. We also have our outdoor splash pad and water park. Come on in. Bring the kids, bring the whole family.” says Rick Simonds, Associate Executive Director at the Wilson Family Y.
Temperatures by the end of this week are expected to soar back into the triple digits, and the humidity will make it feel even hotter.”Wear loose clothing. Make sure it’s not too constricting. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of liquids, fluids, water, Gatorade, that sort of thing. Also make sure, if you’re out in the heat, make sure in the sun you wear SPF 30 or above. Apply it early and often.” says Simonds.
Above average temperatures are classified as heat waves when they remain above average for two or more days. There are cooling centers located across Richmond, Columbia, and Aiken counties to help you beat the heat. For a complete list, click here.
