ATLANTA, Ga. – Family members say a brother accused of fatally shooting his sister in Atlanta was mentally ill.
Police arrested 27-year-old Marquaris Oglesby on Thursday and charged him with murder in the killing of his sister, Ashley.
WSB-TV reports she was shot multiple times in the family’s home.
It was unclear Friday whether the defendant had an attorney.
The suspect’s aunt, Sherry Morton, said Marquaris Oglesby told his mother that someone was chasing him.
According to the aunt, the suspect told his mother that he fired at an unseen assailant. Police officers previously said the mother witnessed the shooting.
Family members said they are uncertain whether Marquaris Oglesby understands that his sister is dead.
