A long time Aiken City Councilwoman has announced her bid to run to mayor.

Lessie Price made her candidacy official on Monday.

She has served on the council for nearly 30 years.

We caught up with Price at last night’s council meeting and asked her about her bid for the mayor’s seat.

“We’ve done a lot of great things in this town and when I look at where I started with Mayor H. Odell Weeks and now Mayor Cavanaugh, one of the things I’ve wanted to do is build upon the success that they’ve managed to have with this city.”

Mayor Fred Cavanaugh has already announced that he will not run for the seat again.

City Council District 1 and 3 seats are also up for grabs.

The general election is this November.
